EasyJet reveals six routes from new Madrid base
UK budget carrier EasyJet is to base three Airbus A319s at Madrid Barajas, its first Spanish base, where it plans to add six new routes.
EasyJet, which revealed Madrid as its 17th European base last month, has detailed its basic plans for the airport with new services to Lyon and Toulouse in France, Casablanca in Morocco and the Italian destination of Rome Ciampino.
It will also begin domestic flights to Oviedo and La Coruna, the latter - together with Casablanca - is a new destination for the carrier.
An EasyJet spokeswoman was unable to give details of frequencies and individual start dates, as the budget carrier is finalising its slots, but she says the routes will begin in February next year.
The budget carrier already serves Madrid from Bristol, Liverpool, London Gatwick and Luton in the UK. It also links Madrid with Basle, Berlin, Geneva, Milan Malpensa and Paris Orly.
EasyJet has also announced a new route between Lyon and Rome Ciampino.
