yo cre que es de lo más alejado que he visto a estar endiosado un músico, que lo de los salivazos es una chorrada, el resto no puedo hablar porque no lo conozco, pero también pienso que podía haber no escrito nada en su blog... no hay necesidad

Right - i want to put a few things straight here 'STONER' - i was with the woman who told you about the spitting... when she said you were nice, you should read the subtext of this conversation and read - ok / average / errh... 'fine'... we came because we were invited by friends of ours who liked your music and to be honest i did like a couple of your tracks, otherwise i personally found it all a bit bland... particularly since you were covering a lot of your tracks anyway... but at least the ones i liked were original material i understand.

What was grosss, not original is the spitting - it's so uncnnected to your routine, you do it to try to be 'flesh' and 'liquid' , you say, but it's just plain gross... and clearly you're not original if Sid Vicious and friends were doing this back in the 70s... you said, Rock and Roll isn't nice - yeah, we know that - but as you refered to the Sex Pistols, you forgot the clearly obvious, as our friend, quite rightly, pointed out - 'you're not the Sex Pistols, luv!'... 'you're a cover band'...

Seeing now that you went to the effort of ironing your outfit - you're mother would have been so proud of that - and that would have been nice, no? ;-) but continue to spit on stage, i just find really humours almost lamentable...

What I personally found really sad about you, was that you felt it necessary to do an imitation, a very bad one, of a Scottish accent through something North American - i am a native English speaker and i couldn't understand a word and then you proceeded to take the piss out of the audience because you weren't getting much response from them - don't forget you were in Spain and people in Spain don't automatically speak and register English as well as others such as the Dutch or Scandinavians - even then, though they'd have had to have been particularly used to bad accents, to have understood you, because i couldn't work out a word of what you said...

But ultimately, whilst nice is a bland adjective, it is either used to offend in a pleasant kind of way, that i suppose only us Brits know how to do well... 'yeah, your music was nice enough... ', but actually it can also refer to something generally positive... as you said, if you want nice go and watch Any McDonald... she's actually great and at least doesn't try to shock for strange reasons with odd spitting movements totally unnatural to your natural behaviour... at least you could have really shocked us in an Ozzy Ozborne style and bit the head off a chicken... but i guess you're just not that liquid or flesh are you??

Finally, if you are the big bad and bold rock star you claim to be, why were you so bothered to come back to us outside the stage in the foyer and complain like a little kid about being offended... ? that's what was really pathetic... if you want to be the big bad 'flesh' and 'liquid' guy wouldn't it have been better to have just brushed it off... rather than come up to us again and then again, feel compelled to regurgetate your emotions and dissatisfactions on this blog for all of us to comment upon...

Why don't you become a real grown-up musician - a big bad rock star and take all the critiscim and live on the edge of life? or just crawl back under a rock, reflect on your career to date, then later on realise that actually Amy McDonald is actually quite a success...? Just jealous are we...?

PS - and just one point, you fail to recognise that the city didn't exactly invite us as 'rent-a-crowd' people did pay €10 to come and see you play... and many of them seemed animated enough and if it weren't a sitting venue, you might have got more of an atmosphere from all of us... however, seeing the responses from this site, it's clear to see that most people agreed with us... such a pity, you couldn't have been an adult about all of this... anyway, good luck with your career... hopefully you'll become the big bad guy you always think you were, or you'll just grow up!

SANTANDER, 5/7

Up at 7.30. Ow. And furthermore…ow…TEN hours drive to Santander. But you know, it wasn’t that bad, actually. We were so freaked out about it, had been dreading it all week. But we all just slept and then, we were there, driving down the main drag. We found the venue, which should have been the coolest thing ever–a darling little cinema with a great, live sounding stage. The lobby was showing an exhibition of cinema posters from Poland, which were very emotive, even benign Hollywood films had sinister, almost Giger-like artwork.  Sound was checked. Our support act for the evening, Luis Auseron, introduced himself, and was clearly familiar with our work–not only does he cover ‘September Gurls’ on his new album, but he was quoting my solo stuff, etc. fluently. Luis and his brother had a very popular band some years ago called Radio Futura so it was definitely getting a nod from someone who’d done iconic work.

After the check, we headed to a restaurant and found a great wine bar, and discovered a wine so delightful that Jon & I each bought a bottle–the one we’d had at dinner was the last one, but our server, who was probably the owner, and had suggested the bottle, called a friend to grab a couple more from somewhere. Quinta Sardonia 2005.

Back at the venue, I used a table and a provided iron to iron my clean clothes straight out of my suitcase, taking advantage of the fact that the hotel was far away and there was no time to go there before the show. This way, I could step offstage, towel off, and put on clean clothes straight away.

So, showtime was on–we sounded great, really. And the people did their best to rock. We’d driven ten hours to get there, it has an effect. It was hard to feel it, we were all a bit touchy. The audience was invited by the city, so that was a problem, there were a few people there didn’t appreciate what they were getting (one in particular, a woman who chastised me for spitting saying otherwise our music was ‘nice’–I said–art is not NICE. Spitting, and the contortions I do, show that we are beings of FLESH and LIQUID and if you want NICE listen to COLDPLAY and FUCK OFF.’. Yes, I was a little touchy. In fact, if people are offended by what we/I do, I think this is a GOOD thing, so I should thank her. But, anyway–beyond that, I had put a couple of friends at the door, and they were turned away, rudely by the box office. This was a FREE show. And there were EMPTY seats. Unacceptable. Plus–the hotel was in another town, miles away. Tiny rooms for half of us. Let yourself in with a key, and walk up two flights of stairs…after ten hours of travel to get there (plus at the last minute they didn’t have enough rooms and our crew had to share a room at a hostel), no amenities save water backstage…I mean, really. We call these gigs ‘Johnny Paychecks’ but that’s not why we’re here.

Amigo/a británico, ¿por qué nos sueltas todo este paquete aquí y no se lo escribes directamente a Stringfellow en su blog? ¿O es que crees que va a venir a leerlo aquí por arte de magia?
